Boo! Join the Halloween Mods Showcase Challenge

Calling all new Unity zombies, vampires, ghosts and goblins! Mod your Microgame to the max and submit it to our Halloween Mods Showcase Challenge for a chance to win Unity swag and be featured in the showcase.

Ghostly Greetings!

This month’s challenge is a treat. Get ready to be creepily creative, have fun, and share what you’ve created so far with your fellow creators. Personalize a Karting or 2D Platformer Microgame–add a dapper witch hat, trick it out with light trails and sparkles, toss in some pumpkins or dark-colored props, and even do some road work!
But you don’t have to stop there. If you’re up for it, just keep going and mod your mods! Add as many spooky Halloween details as you can to make your Microgame stand out. If you need some inspiration on what assets to use in your game, the Unity Asset Store is a great place to start looking for them.
When you’re done, submit it as a WebGL game to the challenge!

How to participate

To join, you need to submit a WebGL build of your Microgame, by clicking the "Submit your game" button on your personal Share page. Remember to name your game, include a thumbnail image, and provide a short and fun description of your game.
Make sure to follow these instructions to share your game directly from the Unity Editor to your Share page.
The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2019.
Each submitted Microgame will be reviewed by our content team to make sure it’s ready for the Halloween Mods Showcase Challenge showcase.
Simply submit your project for a chance to be showcased and win free Unity swag.

Rules & Requirements

  1. To participate you will need to download and install the free version of Unity and open a Microgame. If you have not done this, please scroll down the page to “How do I open a Microgame” for instructions.
  2. You need to submit a modified version of either the Karting or 2D Platformer Microgame. For this challenge, we will not be accepting original games created from a blank project.
  3. Your Microgame must include one or more of the mods available via Unity Learn. In addition, you are free to add your own modifications. You can find the Mods here: Karting Mods, 2D Platformer Mods
  4. Please do not include personal information in your game, including pictures of family members, friends or acquaintances, your home, work or school address, and so on.
  5. Offensive and/or illegal content will not be accepted in the Challenge.

Prizes!

All participants who submit their game (based on either Karting or 2D Platformer Microgames) are eligible to enter to win Unity swag as the prize.

How do I open a Microgame?

  1. From the Unity Store, get the latest version of Unity via the “New Users” option on this page.
  2. Open the Unity Hub and follow the installation guidelines. As part of the download process, you will have to create a Unity ID user account if you do not already have one. This account will also give you access to the Microgames & Mega Mods challenge.
  3. Choose the Karting or 2D Platformer Microgame from the Unity Hub. Give your Microgame a new name.
  4. Open the Microgame in the Unity editor.
  5. Start adding one or more Karting or 2D Platformer Mods to your Microgame.
  6. Have fun creating with Unity!
